INJECTOR SYNCHRONIZATION, FUEL SETTING, AND FUEL TIMING - CONTINUED
SETTING TOP CENTER POSITION (TCP) - CONTINUED
Turn engine in direction of normal engine rotation (to the right, looking from flywheel end). Turn until
timing bolt engages threaded hole in flywheel.
If flywheel is turned beyond point of engagement, flywheel must be turned in direction opposite normal
engine rotation. Turn flywheel approximately 30 degrees, then turn flywheel in direction of normal
engine rotation until timing bolt engages with threaded hole.
Install timing bolt through timing hole in flywheel housing (34) and into flywheel.
Inlet valves and exhaust valve for no. 1 cylinder are fully closed when no.1 piston is on compression stroke
or rocker arms can be moved by hand. If rocker arms cannot be moved, and valves are slightly open, no. 1
Identify cylinders that require checking/adjusting for stroke position of crankshaft.
When intended stroke position is identified and other stroke position is required, remove timing bolt and rotate fly-
wheel 360 in direction of normal engine rotation.
Repeat step c above.
Once checks/adjustments are complete, remove timing bolt and install timing hole plug (1) on housing (2).
