Allow engine to cool off before you perform maintenance on muffler, exhaust pipe, exhaust manifold or
turbocharger. Hot metal parts can cause severe burns. Wear eye, glove and skin protection when work-
ing with heated parts. Failure to follow this warning may cause injury or death.
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use assistance during
procedure. Ensure that any lifting device used is in good condition and of suitable load capacity. Keep
clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure to follow this warning may cause injury or
Remove two bolts (9) and washers (10) to disconnect flange (11) from muffler (7).
Loosen bolt (2) on both clamps (1).
Attach lifting device to muffler (7).
Remove four bolts (4), nuts (6) and eight washers (5) from both straps (8).
Weight of muffler is 110 lb (50 kg).
Remove two straps (8).
Use lifting device to slide muffler off of elbows (12 and 15) and lift muffler out of the engine compartment.
