CLEANING AND INSPECTION
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Type III is an environmentally compliant and low toxic
material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Use protective gloves and goggles. Use in
well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other sources of ignition.
Particles blown by compressed air are hazardous. DO NOT exceed 15 psi (103 kPa) nozzle pressure
when drying parts with compressed air. Use a maximum of 30 psi (207 kPa) when cleaning compo-
nents. DO NOT direct compressed air against human skin. Failure to follow this warning may result in
injury or death. Make sure air stream is directed away from user and other personnel in the area. To pre-
vent injury, user must wear protective goggles or face shield.
Remove gasket material from mounting surfaces.
Clean all parts with solvent.
Dry all parts with compressed air.
Inspect all parts for damage and replace as necessary.
Lightly coat new preformed packings with clean coolant prior to installation.
Apply silicone sealant to threads on plug (8) and install in bonnet (7).
Apply silicone sealant to threads of adapter (10) and install new preformed packing (11) in oil cooler (12).
Install new preformed packing (9) and oil cooler bonnet (7) on adapter (10).
Install new preformed packing (3), gasket (5) and two bolts (6) on water pump (4).
Install hose (14), two clamps (13), water pump cover (2) and four bolts (1).
Tighten two clamps (13).
Install aftercooler lines disconnected from oil cooler (WP 0047 00).
