CLEANING AND INSPECTION
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Type III is an environmentally compliant and low toxic
material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Use protective gloves and goggles. Use in
well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other sources of ignition.
Particles blown by compressed air are hazardous. DO NOT exceed 15 psi (103 kPa) nozzle pressure
when drying parts with compressed air. Use a maximum of 30 psi (207 kPa) when cleaning compo-
nents. DO NOT direct compressed air against human skin. Failure to follow this warning may result in
serious injury or death. Make sure air stream is directed away from user and other personnel in the area.
To prevent injury, user must wear eye protection.
Remove all preformed packing and gasket material from mounting surfaces.
Clean all parts with solvent.
Dry all parts with compressed air.
Inspect all parts for damage and replace as necessary.
Install tube assembly (1), new preformed packing (11), two washers (10) and capscrews (17).
Connect hose assembly (12) to elbow (7).
Lubricate all preformed packings with clean lubricating oil prior to installation.
Install new preformed packing (14), screen assembly (15) and new preformed packing (16).
Install new preformed packing (2), new gasket (3), two washers (4) and bolts (5) on elbow (17).
Connect tube assembly (1).
Install four washers (8) and bolts (9).
Install plug (6).
Refill transmission with transmission fluid. Maintain level between ADD and FULL marks (WP 0128 00).
