Crankshaft must be rotated in direction of normal engine rotation when removing main bearings. Engine
rotation is counterclockwise when viewed from rear. Failure to follow this procedure could result in damage
to the block, crankshaft, or both.
Rotate crankshaft counterclockwise and remove and discard one of five upper half main bearings (10).
Remove main bearing removal and installation tool from oil hole in crankshaft journal.
Repeat steps 10, 11 and 12 to remove and discard remaining four of five upper half main bearings (10).
