ENGINE OIL FILTER BASE MAINTENANCE - CONTINUED

REMOVAL - CONTINUED
1.
Remove eight bolts (33), washers (34) and four flange halves (35) from adapter (37).
2.
Disconnect hose assemblies (30 and 32).
3.
Remove and discard two preformed packings (36).
4.
Loosen nut (8) on tube assembly (7).
5.
Disconnect tube assembly (7) from oil filter adapter (18) assembly.
6.
Remove two bolts (26) and bolt (27) to disconnect filter base (2) assembly from oil cooler (5).
7.
Remove two bolts (1 and 6) to disconnect filter base (2) assembly from cylinder block.
8.
Remove two bolts (38).
9.
Separate filter base (2) from oil cooler (5).
10.
Remove filter base (2) assembly.
11.
Remove and discard two seals (3) and two seals (4).
DISASSEMBLY
1.
Remove connector (9) and preformed packing (10). Discard preformed packing.
2.
Remove plug (14), preformed packing (12 and 13), plug (15) and preformed packing (16) from adapter (18). Discard
preformed packings.
3.
Remove bolts (11 and 17), adapter (18) and preformed packing (19). Discard preformed packing.
4.
Remove two plugs (41) and preformed packings (42). Discard preformed packings.
5.
Remove two bolts (31).
6.
Separate adapter (37) from filter base (2).
7.
Remove and discard preformed packings (28 and 29).
8.
Remove stud (39) from filter base (2).
WARNING
Covers hold springs under compression. Wear eye protection and use care when removing springs. Failure to
do so may result in injury.
9.
Loosen four bolts (20), to relieve tension on two springs (24).
10.
Remove four bolts (20), washers (21), two covers (22), gaskets (23), springs (24) and plungers (25) from filter base (2).
Discard two gaskets. Remove all gasket material from mating surfaces.
11.
Remove pipe plug (27) from filter base (2).
