WARNING
Allow engine to cool off before you perform maintenance on muffler, exhaust pipe, exhaust manifold or
turbocharger. Hot metal parts can cause severe burns. Wear eye, glove and skin protection when work-
ing with heated parts. Failure to follow this warning may cause injury or death.
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use assistance during
procedure. Ensure that any lifting device used is in good condition and of suitable load capacity. Keep
clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure to follow this warning may cause injury or
death.
NOTE
Weight of muffler is 110 lb (50 kg).
14.
Attach lifting device to muffler (7).
15.
Lift muffler into engine compartment and slide muffler onto elbows (12 and 15).
16.
Install two straps (8).
17.
Install four bolts (4), eight washers (5) and nut (6) in both straps (8).
18.
Tighten two bolts (2) on clamps (1).
19.
Connect flange (11) to muffler (7) and install two washers (10) and bolts (9).

20.
Operate engine and check for exhaust leaks (TM 5-3805-248-10).
21.
Install hood (WP 0189 00).
