CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Type III is an environmentally compliant and low toxic
material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Use protective gloves and goggles. Use in
well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other sources of ignition.
Particles blown by compressed air are hazardous. DO NOT exceed 15 psi (103 kPa) nozzle pressure
when drying parts with compressed air. Use a maximum of 30 psi (207 kPa) when cleaning compo-
nents. DO NOT direct compressed air against human skin. Failure to follow this warning may result in
injury or death. Make sure air stream is directed away from user and other personnel in the area. To pre-
vent injury, user must wear eye protection.
1.
Remove gasket material from mounting surfaces.
2.
Clean all parts with solvent.
3.
Dry all parts with compressed air.
4.
Inspect all parts for damage and replace as necessary.
INSTALLATION
1.
Insert ends of cable assembly (19) into housings.
2.
Install washer (28) and nut (27).
3.
Install rod end (24), new lockwasher (25) and bolt (26).
4.
Install new gasket (9).
5.
Install cover (10), seven washers (12) and bolts (11) on left side of transmission.
6.
Install clip (13), washer (15) and bolt (14).
7.
Install washer (17) and nut (18).
8.
Position transmission shift control lever in first gear.
9.
Install rod end (21) on cable assembly (19) and align with shift control lever.
10.
Install pin (22), washer (20) and new cotter pin (23).
