WARNING
If NBC exposure is suspected, personnel wearing protective equipment should handle all air cleaner
media. Consult your NBC Officer or NBC NCO for appropriate handling or disposal procedures.
NBC contaminated filters must be handled using adequate precautions and must be disposed of by
trained personnel.
NOTE
When removing the filter elements, check sealing surfaces on elements for dirt on clean side. This
exposes possible filtration problems such as damaged canisters, incorrect element fit, or the need for
cleaning and/or repair of gasket surfaces.
The secondary air filter element is typically changed at the time of the third primary element change.
After the primary filter is removed, be sure there is no dirt in the filter housing before removing the sec-
ondary element. If the secondary element is difficult to remove, it may indicate bottom of secondary
element is sticking to filter housing. Be sure to check gasket contacts area of the filter housing for stuck
or torn gasket. This area must be clean and free of gasket material to prevent an air leak path past sec-
ondary filter.
