RADIATOR CAP MAINTENANCE - CONTINUED

REMOVAL - CONTINUED
NOTE
Remove the radiator fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.
Remove radiator fill cap (1) assembly.
DISASSEMBLY
1.
Remove ring (6), retainer (4) and gasket (7) from cap (8). Discard gasket. Remove all gasket material from mounting
surfaces.
2.
Remove ring (3), cap (8) and tang (2) from cover (1).
3.
If damaged, remove stud (5) from radiator.

CLEANING AND INSPECTION
Wipe all parts clean, inspect for damage and replace as necessary.
ASSEMBLY
1.
If removed, install stud (5) on radiator. Torque stud (5) to 40 lb-ft (54 Nm).
2.
Install tang (2), cap (8) and ring (3) on cover (1).
3.
Install new gasket (7), retainer (4) and ring (6) on cap (8).
INSTALLATION
Install radiator fill cap (1) as an assembly.
