CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Type III is an environmentally compliant and low toxic
material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Use protective gloves and goggles. Use in
well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other sources of ignition.
Particles blown by compressed air are hazardous. DO NOT exceed 15 psi (103 kPa) nozzle pressure
when drying parts with compressed air. Use a maximum of 30 psi (207 kPa) when cleaning compo-
nents. DO NOT direct compressed air against human skin. Failure to follow this warning may result in
injury or death. Make sure air stream is directed away from user and other personnel in the area. To pre-
vent injury, user must wear protective goggles or face shield.
1.
Clean all parts with solvent.
2.
Dry all parts with compressed air.
3.
Inspect all parts for damage and replace as necessary.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION
Use care when installing lower shield assemblies so that ether starting aid tube is not dented, bent or punc-
tured. Failure to follow this procedure may result in damage to equipment.
NOTE
Install items through harness and ether starting aid tube mounting clips where required.
1.
Position four shield (6) quarters and strip at bottom of shield assembly on radiator assembly.
2.
Position loop clamps (8), install twenty-four washers (5) and bolts (4) in outer edges of shield (6) assembly.
3.
Assemble two fan guard (1) halves and install two bolts (7).
4.
Install fan guard assembly (1).
5.
Install eight washers (3) and bolts (2) in front fan guard assembly (1) on engine.
