INSTALLATION
NOTE
Apply anti-seizing tape half way up the threads of all hose and fitting connections prior to installation to
ensure correct sealing.
1.
Install vent (9), two plugs (1), connector (8) and elbow (7) on air compressor governor (3).
2.
Install new gasket (2).
3.
Install air compressor governor assembly (3) on compressor.
4.
Install two washers (5) and bolts (4) in air compressor governor assembly (3).
5.
Connect two hose assemblies (6) to air compressor governor assembly (3).
ADJUSTMENT
NOTE
The following steps require assistance.
1.
Operate engine until normal operating air pressure is reached (TM 5-3805-248-10). Read air pressure gage. Allow air
pressure to reach cut-out pressure of 115-125 psi (793-822 kPa).
2.
Push in brake pedal rapidly several times.
3.
Read air pressure gage. Air pressure should drop to cut-in pressure to 95-100 psi (655-690 kPa).
NOTE
If cut-out and cut-in pressure do not meet specifications, make the adjustments in the following steps.
4.
Remove cover of governor assembly (3) from left side of engine.
5.
Loosen locknut.
6.
Turn adjustment screw counterclockwise to increase cut-out pressure; clockwise to decrease. One full turn changes cut-
out and cut-in pressure approximately 20 psi (138 kPa).
NOTE
If adjustment screw does not change cut-out pressure, the air compressor unloading valves are not working
correctly. If the cut-in to cut-out pressure difference is not 20-30 psi (138-207 kPa), replace governor.
7.
Hold adjustment screw.
8.
Tighten locknut.
9.
Install cover of governor assembly (3).
10.
Operate engine until normal operating air pressure is reached (TM 5-3805-248-10).
11.
Shut down engine (TM 5-3805-248-10).
12.
Check for air system leaks.
