CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Type III is an environmentally compliant and low toxic
material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Use protective gloves and goggles. Use in
well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other sources of ignition.
Particles blown by compressed air are hazardous. DO NOT exceed 15 psi (103 kPa) nozzle pressure
when drying parts with compressed air. Use a maximum of 30 psi (207 kPa) when cleaning compo-
nents. DO NOT direct compressed air against human skin. Failure to follow this warning may result in
serious injury or death. Make sure air stream is directed away from user and other personnel in the area.
To prevent injury, user must wear protective goggles or face shield.
1.
Remove all gasket material from mounting surfaces.
2.
Clean all parts with solvent.
3.
Dry all parts with compressed air.
4.
Inspect all parts for damage and replace as necessary.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install new preformed packing (4) on water pump (3).
2.
Install new preformed packing (2) and rear cover (1) on water pump (3).
3.
Install water pump (3) in front cover (5).
4.
Install new gasket (13) and cover (12) on front cover (5).
5.
Install washers (9) and two bolts (10).
6.
Install three bolts (11).
7.
Install clips (6 and 7) and four bolts (8).
8.
Install oil gage and guide assembly (WP 0024 00).
9.
Install oil filler tube assembly (WP 0025 00).
10.
Install water pump lines and fittings and engine oil cooler water lines and fittings (WP 0048 00).
11.
Install radiator hoses (WP 0049 00).
12.
Install fan belt tightener (WP 0054 00).
