WARNING
Use caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use assistance during procedure.
Ensure any lifting device used is in good condition of suitable load capacity. Keep clear of heavy parts sup-
ported only by lifting device. Failure to follow this warning may cause injury or death.
NOTE
Each brake shoe weighs 45 lb (20 kg).
6.
Remove pin (5) and brake shoe (1) from machine.
7.
Remove pin (7) and brake shoe (3) from machine.
CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Type III is an environmentally compliant and low toxic
material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Use protective gloves and goggles. Use in
well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other sources of ignition.
Dust mask is required when cleaning brakes.
1.
Clean metal parts of brake assembly with solvent cleaning compound. Do not use a metal brush on brake assembly or to
apply the solvent cleaning compound.
2.
Dry brake assembly using clean rags.
3.
Clean brake assembly again using soap and water. Apply with a soft bristle brush or a cloth.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install pin (5) and brake shoe (1).
2.
Install pin (7) and brake shoe (3).
3.
Install two new felt washers (10) and spacer rings (6) on pins (5 and 7).
4.
Install two lock springs (4) on pins (5 and 7).
5.
Install two bolts (9).
6.
Install new lock wire (8).
7.
Install spring (2).
Install tire and wheel (WP 0302 00 or WP 0303 00).

Operate machine and verify correct operation of brakes (TM 5-3805-248-10).
