14. Lower the temperature of the large bearing cup
and small bearing cup (17). Install the bearing
cups in housing (18).
15. Heat larger bearing cone (20) in oil to a
maximum temperature of 275°F (I 35°C). Install
hearing cone (20) on pinion shaft (19) as shown.
16 Put pinion shaft in housing (18). Heat small
bearing cone (2 I) in oil to a maximum tempera-
lure of 275°F (135°C). Install bearing cone (21)
on pinion shaft (19).
17. Install nut (23). the lock and nut (22) on pinion
shaft ( 19). Tighten the nuts until a torque of 6 to
10 lb. in. (0.7 to 1.1 Nm) is needed to turn pinion
18 Install spring pin (24) in carrier assembly (25).
19. Fasten a hoist to carrier assembly (25) and put it
in position on tooling (A) as shown.
