MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION

ETHER START SYSTEM
20. Engine Cranks but Will
Not Start in Cold Weather.
WARNING
Ether fuel is extremely flammable and toxic. DO NOT smoke and make sure
you are in a well-ventilated area away from heat, open flames or sparks. Wear
eye protection. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and avoid breathing ether
fumes. If fluid enters or fumes irritate the eyes, wash immediately with large
quantities of clean water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately if
ether is inhaled or causes eye irritation. Failure to follow this warning may
cause injury or death.

Check ether cylinder by removing
from valve. Shake cylinder and listen
for liquid splashing inside.
2. If cylinder is NOT empty, go to Test 2.

Check starting aid Electrical System.
1. Refer to Electrical Troubleshooting
2. If Electrical system is OK, go to Test 3.

Check starting aid valve tube
assembly for damage.
a. Disconnect both ends of tube
assembly.
b. Inspect tube assembly for kinks,
1. If tube assembly is not damaged, replace
holes and damaged fittings.

21. Temperature Too High.
WARNING
Hot oil or metal parts can cause severe burns. Wear insulated gloves, long
sleeves and eye protection when working with heated parts. Failure to follow
this warning may cause injury.
Check for obstruction at exhaust stack
Remove any obstruction.
