ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION

Backup Alarm, Defroster,
Windshield Wiper, Heater
Motor, Floodlamp Back-
Up Alarm, Low Air Alarm/
WARNING
Light and Ether Starting
Aid Are All Inoperative
Remove all jewelry, watch, rings, etc. prior to disconnecting cables from batter-
ies or other electrical source. Items can come in contact with battery or electrical
source and cause electrical shock. Failure to follow this warning may cause
injury or death.
Make sure wheels are chocked and bowl is lowered to ground for all tests. Fail-
ure to do so may cause injury or death.
Eye protection must be worn when performing maintenance where components
or particles could fly out during procedure. Failure to take precautions may
cause injury.
NOTE
The first things that should be done prior to any of following checks is to reset
main circuit breaker. Press red button to reset.
If problem still exists after these checks, proceed to appropriate troubleshooting
section for each individual component.

Verify that machine starts (TM 5-

Engine Cranks but Fails to
Start in Cold Weather
(Ether Starting Aid
Inoperative).
WARNING
Ether is extremely flammable and toxic. DO NOT smoke and make sure you are
in a well ventilated area away from heat, open flames, or sparks. Wear eye pro-
tection. Avoid contact with skin and eyes and avoid breathing ether fumes. If
fluid enters or fumes irritate the eyes, wash immediately with large quantities of
clean water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately if either is
inhaled or causes eye irritation. Failure to follow this warning may cause injury
or death.
Ether canister must be removed prior to testing. Failure to follow this warning
could result in injury or death.

Check to see if there is ether in
cylinder.
2. If ether cylinder is OK, go to Test 2.
