CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Type III is an environmentally compliant and low toxic
material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. The use of protective gloves and goggles is
suggested. Use in well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other sources of ignition.
Particles blown by compressed air are hazardous. DO NOT exceed 15 psi (103 kPa) nozzle pressure
when drying parts with compressed air. Use a maximum of 30 psi (207 kPa) when cleaning compo-
nents. DO NOT direct compressed air against human skin. Failure to follow this warning may result in
injury or death. Make sure air stream is directed away from user and other personnel in the area. To pre-
vent injury, user must wear eye protection.
1.
Remove all preformed packing material from mounting surfaces.
2.
Clean all parts with solvent.
3.
Dry parts with compressed air.
4.
Inspect all parts and replace if damaged.

All parts furnished in transmission shift
control valve assembly kit will be used to
replace like parts being discarded during
removal. Entirety of transmission shift

control valve assembly kit will be used.

1.
Using clean oil, lubricate and install new preformed
packing (23) on spool (22).
2.
Using clean oil, lubricate and install new preformed

packing (20) on plunger (21).
3.
Using grease, lubricate bore of valve body (25).

4.
Using thread sealant, coat threads of sleeve (19).
5.
Install spring (24) and spool (22) assembly.

6.
Install plunger (21) assembly and sleeve (19) in valve
body (25).
