MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
5.
Starting Motor
e. Set multimeter to appropriate ohm
(Ω) range (WP 0018 00).
Inoperative - Continued.
f. Turn start switch fully clockwise.
1. If continuity is indicated, repair open
circuit between engine start switch and
starting motor (WP 0018 00).
2. If continuity is indicated and wiring is
OK, replace starting motor (WP 0057
3. If continuity is not indicated, replace
engine start switch (WP 0068 00).

Test for voltage to ammeter.
a. Place battery disconnect switch in
OFF position (TM 5-3805-248-10).
b. Set multimeter to appropriate
voltage range (WP 0018 00).
c. Connect multimeter positive lead to
red wire on back of ammeter and
multimeter negative lead to chassis
ground.
