TRANSMISSION TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
NOTE
1.
Transmission Overheating
According to the
Differential and transmission oil level, leaking lines or components, missing
Converter/Retarder Gage.
detents and physical damage to linkages should all be corrected prior to per-
forming any diagnostics.
1.
Check with operator to confirm that
1. If machine was not operated correctly,
machine was not operated close to
explain correct operation to operator.
stall speed or retarder was not used

2. If machine has been operated correctly,
go to Test 2.

Check converter/retarder gage
1. If gage system is not operating correctly

to Test 3.

Check magnetic strainer.
1. Replace magnetic strainer if necessary
2. If strainer is OK, go to Test 4.

Check transmission oil filter for
1. Replace transmission oil filter if
necessary.
2. If filter is OK, go to Test 5.
5.
Check torque converter oil cooler for
1. Replace oil cooler if air does not pass
cloggs or restriction by removing and
through it.
2. If oil cooler is OK, replace transmission
(WP 0286 00).
NOTE
2.
Transmission Shifter
Lever Does Not Move.

Check control linkage for improper
1. If control linkage is not adjusted
properly, or is damaged or defective,
adjust or replace.
2. If problem still exists, replace
transmission (WP 0286 00).
