CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Solvent cleaning compound MIL-PRF-680 Type III is an environmentally compliant and low toxic
material. However, it may be irritating to the eyes and skin. Use protective gloves and goggles. Use in
well-ventilated areas. Keep away from open flames and other sources of ignition.
Particles blown by compressed air are hazardous. DO NOT exceed 15 psi (103 kPa) nozzle pressure
when drying parts with compressed air. Use a maximum of 30 psi (207 kPa) when cleaning compo-
nents. DO NOT direct compressed air against human skin. Failure to follow this warning may result in
injury or death. Make sure air stream is directed away from user and other personnel in the area. To pre-
vent injury, user must wear eye protection.
1.
Remove all preformed packing material from mounting surfaces.
2.
Clean all parts with solvent.
3.
Dry all parts with compressed air.
4.
Inspect all parts for damage and replace as necessary.
INSTALLATION
NOTE
Lightly coat all new preformed packings with clean oil prior to installation.
1.
Connect hose assemblies (6 and 12) to bowl lifting check valve (WP 0228 00).
2.
Install junction box (1) and two bolts (11) on top of draft frame.
3.
Install three new preformed packings (5) on hose assemblies (6, 9 and 12).
4.
Connect hose assemblies (6, 9 and 12) and install six flange halves (4) on junction box (1).
5.
Install 12 washers (3) and capscrews (2) on hose assemblies (6, 9 and 12).
6.
Install tube nipple (10) and nut (7) on top of draft frame.
7.
Connect hose assemblies (8 and 9) to tube nipple (10).
8.
Fill hydraulic tank to correct level (TM 5-3805-248-10).
WARNING
Only a qualified operator may perform the following procedure. All other personnel must clear the immedi-
ate area of the vehicle. Failure to follow this procedure may cause injury. If you are injured, obtain medical
aid immediately.
9.
Start engine (TM 5-3805-248-10).
10.
Operate hydraulic bowl cylinder control. Move system through at least five full movements of travel. This will bleed the
air out of the system.
11.
Shut down engine (TM 5-3805-248-10).
12.
Check oil level in hydraulic tank and add if necessary (TM 5-3805-248-10).
13.
Inspect all hose and tube assemblies for leaks.
