TM 5-3805-260-24TRANSMISSION50. Install springs (90), the washers and bolts(91).Make sure all springs are engaged correctlyand tighten bolts (91 ) to a torque of 85 + 5 lb. ft.( 1 15 m 7 N. m).51. Check to make sure the pistons are free in theirclutch housings as follows:a) Put air (free of water) under a pressure of100 to 150 psi (7.0 to 10.5 kg/cm2) or (690to 1030 kPa) into the five oil passages withtool (B).b) There must be .12 to .25 in. (3.0 to 6.4 mm)of travel for each piston.c) If the pistons do not move the distance inStep 51 b put a small amount of oil in thefive passages. Follow procedure in Step 51a. If the pistons still do not move, thetransmission must be disassembled and thepistons checked.52. Install two 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolts in case(92). Fasten a hoist to case (92). Make sure theO-ring seals are in position on the outputtransfer gear case and install case (92).53. Install the nine long bolts and washers that holdcase (92) in position and tighten them to a torqueof 85 + 5 Ib. ft. (115 + 7 N. m).54. Assemble the No. I clutch as follows:a) Lower the temperature of bearing cup (93)and install it in hub (94).b) Heat race and roller assembly (95) in oil to amaximum temperature of 275°F (I 35°C)and install it on coupling (96).3-211
